Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 25, 2026
Orange County High School Democrats is a student-led civic organization. This policy explains what information this website collects, why we collect it, who can see it, and the choices you have. We try to collect as little as possible.
What we collect
If you just browse the site, we don't ask for anything and we don't use analytics or advertising trackers. Like any website, our hosting provider automatically records basic technical information about each request (such as your IP address, browser type, and the page you visited) in server logs used to keep the site running and secure. We also briefly track request counts by IP address to block spam and abuse; these counts are held in memory and are not stored long-term.
If you use the contact form, we collect the information you type in: your first name, last name (optional), email address, subject, and message.
If you have a member or officer account, we store your name, email address, account role (member or officer), officer title if you have one, and account status. Accounts are created by the organization — there is no public sign-up. Your password is handled by our authentication provider and is never visible to us or to any officer.
If you're an officer posting content, images and flyers you upload are stored with our image hosting provider and shown publicly on the site.
How we use it
- To read and respond to messages sent through the contact form.
- To let members and officers log in and to show each person the tools their role allows.
- To keep the site secure, prevent spam, and fix problems.
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information, and we do not share it with political campaigns, parties, or other organizations. We don't use your information for advertising.
Who can see it
Contact form messages and member account details are visible only to officers of OC HS Democrats who need them for their role. We rely on a few service providers to run the site, and they process data on our behalf:
- Supabase — stores our database and handles account logins.
- Render — hosts the website and keeps server logs.
- Cloudinary — hosts images and flyers uploaded by officers.
- Google Fonts — serves the fonts on this site, which means your browser connects to Google and shares your IP address when pages load.
We may also disclose information if required by law.
Cookies
We use only the cookies needed for the site to work: a session cookie that keeps you logged in (if you have an account) and a security token that protects our forms from forged submissions. We don't use tracking or advertising cookies.
How long we keep it
We keep contact form messages only as long as we need them to respond and follow up. Account information is kept while you're involved with the organization and deleted when your account is removed. You can ask us to delete your information at any time (see below).
Security
The site is served over HTTPS, forms are protected against forged submissions, and stored data is only accessible from our server — never directly from your browser. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect what you share with us.
Students and young people
Our members are high school students. This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has sent us information, please contact us and we'll delete it.
Your choices
You can ask us to show you, correct, or delete the information we hold about you. Just send us a message and an officer will follow up.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle information, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
Contact
Questions or requests about your information can be sent through our contact form.
